RPMW 2002-2

The versatile one

More than 140 metres long, almost 5 metres high and weighing a good 560 tonnes – the RPMW 2002-2 track-laying machine is one of the largest in the world. With its remarkable performance and comprehensive range of services, it is an extremely important part of the Wiebe Group’s machinery.

The recycling grade improvement machine carries out various track construction work – with a total engine output of over 2400 kilowatts. This force comes into play during total renovations, in which the RPMW 2002-2 carries out several work steps simultaneously: the soiled ballast bedding is removed, the removed bedding material is processed, ballast is recycled and the substructure layer is renewed.

2 excavation chains, 1 washing device, 0 problem

The core of the work spectrum are the two excavation chains. They ensure that gravel and soil can be removed and processed separately from each other. This prevents the two materials from mixing. For gravel processing, the RPMW 2002-2 also has a high-pressure water spray system, which optimally removes residues and dirt from the ballast. The ballast bedding will first be expanded to a thickness of 350 millimetres. The renewal of the substructure layer is even possible up to a thickness of 500 millimetres.

The advantages at a glance

  • Ballast recycling with parallel ballast renewalExtensive pre- and fine cleaning of the old ballast
  • Effective use even during short closure breaks
  • Integrated crushing plant for sharpening the old gravel
  • Saving of new ballast
  • Reduction of transport and landfill costs
