The large number of sleepers that are installed in track systems based on a ballast bed not only ensure a constant and uniform track gauge, they also carry the weight of the rails. With a minimum dead weight of 49 kilograms per meter, this is a remarkable performance.
However, in order to be able to guarantee absolute safety when trains weighing several tons travel on the rails, the quality of the sleepers must be right as well as the quality of the foundation. In concrete terms, this means stable and at the same time elastic plugging of the sleepers, which the 09-3X tamping express performs quickly, thoroughly and flexibly.
Maximum performance with a minimalist way of working
When tamping the track, quality is expressed in speed and uniformity. The 09-3X tamping express can therefore be used not only as a cyclically operating single-shaft tamping machine, but also as a three-shaft tamping machine. The construction site occupancy will be kept as low as possible. The same applies to the radius: the tamping express can handle a minimum track radius of 190 meters.

The 09-3X tamping express lives up to its name: with a tamping cycle of three sleepers, the machine achieves more than two kilometres of tamping capacity in just one hour. This definitely falls into the category of fast track plugging.
The quality does not fall by the wayside – but underneath. Finally, the tamping units working in parallel ensure optimal tamping of the track in the area of the sleepers.
