Upgrading of the Chemnitztal Viaduct in Chemnitz
Service description:
The 135 m long Chemnitztal Viaduct, km 59.792 of the DB line Neukiritzsch – Chemnitz, consists of 9 natural stone arches, which were supported by a reinforced concrete frame in 1931. Due to the long service life, extensive renovation measures were necessary. The masonry was renewed or replaced, and the grouting was completely renewed. The remediation of the visible surfaces was carried out with a surface protection system, exposed irons were provided with an adhesive primer before repair. After the reinforcement of the reinforced concrete arches, a back-anchored shotcrete shell was applied to the 9 masonry arches. Cavities between masonry and reinforced concrete were grouted.
