Hastedt junction

Four for Three

On a section of track near the Bremen district of Hastedt, various track construction work was carried out for Deutsche Bahn AG at a total of three construction sites. In addition to a line reconstruction with a sleeper change, which covered a length of 4,200 metres, points were converted in two places – and all this in non-stop operation within just four days.

A wide variety of machines were used to make optimal use of this short closure break: The VFW 2001 conversion train as well as a tamping machine and two ballast ploughs ensured fast and thorough work, which included ballasting, tamping and welding with stress compensation.

A lot can be done in “only” four days – especially if you have no choice but to complete a project in such a short period of time.

This was the case with the track junction in Bremen. But we are not complaining about it either, after all, it is our own claim to make optimal use of closure breaks and to be able to guarantee track operations again as quickly as possible. It is then simply a matter of concentrated and non-stop work in order to complete both the switch conversions and the line reconstruction in accordance with specifications and to a high standard.
